Hailing island, located in the southwest of Yangjiang City, has ever been regarded as one of “Top 10 Beautiful Islands in China”. Its southwest-Zhapo Town, lies Dajiao Bay which is National AAAA Level Scenic Area and south the Shili Silver Beach, on which the Museum of Maritime Silk Road is built, in which the Ancient Ship of Song Dynasty, “South Sea NO.1”, is exhibited. Besides Hailing Island, there are also other beautiful smaller islands, such as Shuangshan Island, Nanpeng Island and Dashu Island with unique characteristics, which are ideal places for summer vacation and entertainment.

　　Since 1986 Hailing Island has been a seashore resort, with an area of 16.9 square kilometers. There are as many as 1,200,000 tourists traveling to the island every year. A seashore tourist industrial area is formed at the south of the island and from east to west 5 seashore tourist areas are built there. They are namely Dajiao Bay National 4A Grade Resort and Mawei Island provincial-level resort, Beilluowan resort, the 10-mile Silver Beach Song City tourist area and Jinsha beach tourist area etc. Hailing Island is most famous for the Zhapo Dajiao Bay resort. Inside scene district, the water is clear, with bluish green sand, vast mist-covered water, broad gulf against flat sand, and perfect travel facility. The investment into important facility for amusement reaches more than 30,000,000 yuan. The first domestic great amusement park on beach was established in June, 2002. In the park, there are 4 areas totally: an underwater stage that can rise and sink, the artificial marine world for diving, drifting slideway and the marching crowd. The establishment of the amusement park on sea has enriched Dajiao Bay resort, raising its status. To promote travel industrial strength and accelerate conformity of Hailing Island’s travel resource, Hailing government is going to build in the beautiful Caowang Mountain a 1500-mu golf course of national level and an ecological garden which combines ecological tourism, vacations, ecological protection, both are unique in South Guangdong.

　　Dajiao Bay has become a place as host for significant sports events in the last few years. It has successfully hosted beach volleyball matches in international games, Asian Games, the Ninth National Games and the Windsurding Championships. It is chosen as the training base for national beach volleyball by national Turnverein. Since 2000 Yangjiang has held 3 tourist cultural festivals in a row in Dajiao Bay. Now, Dajiao Bay has become a famous resort which combines sports, recreation and holiday and can satisfy different needs of visitors. In 1989 Dajiao Bay has been given the title of Provincial Resort by the Provincial People’s Government. In May 1994 it became one of the first resorts of Guangdong Province. In January 2001 it was evaluated as National 4A Grade Resort by National Tourism Administration of P.R China, becoming the only national seashore tourist district in Guangdong province and in the same year was chosen as Model Scenic Spot by Guangdong.
